Interesting question, and one over which much sweat has been dropped 
from brows and blood spilt in meetings.

The final analysis was that some parts of our audience would be 
unwilling to give up their weekends to attend an event; however they 
would have no issues with officially taking Friday and Saturday off 
from work/school/college to attend.  We would like those individuals 
and organisations to also be present, and made the compromise so as to 
make participation easy for them.  It was the better of two more or 
less equally similar choices.
